Recovery Equipment

High performance truck mounted and portable extraction machines perform efficient water removal under any circumstances.
Heavy-duty submersible and diesel-powered pumps are used for continuous pumping of high level water.
Moisture detectors, hygrometers and other meters are used to measure the extent of moisture saturation. Necessary repairs can commence when the structure or area is determined to be free of excess moisture.

Germicide and Sanitizing Treatments Control Microbial Problems

Checkpoint has all the latest products to correct the unsanitary effects from standing water.
Sanitizing products control germs & odors.
Disinfecting products arrest the growth of bacteria, mold, mildew, and other harmful microorganisms.

State-Of-The-Art Drying Equipment

Industrial-grade dehumidifiers reduce humidity levels. This produces dry air, minimizing secondary water damage to contents and materials.
High-speed air movers create airflow across walls, carpets, pads, cabinets, furniture and other surfaces to evaporate moisture.
Drying equipment controls temperature and humidity preventing the swelling and warping of floors, walls, and furniture.

Dehumidification

Checkpoint’s cleaning technicians create effective drying situations. Water that cannot be removed through extraction must be removed by dehumidification. Dehumidification can save property owners, businesses, and insurance company’s money in restoration and replacement costs, as well as the costs of downtime and delayed production schedules.

The dehumidifiers operated by our staff have the power and capability of removing water and moisture from drywall, plaster, interior paint, wood, cement floors, carpets, insulation, and attics. Drying time is reduced because our technicians adjust the locations and types of dehumidifiers as drying conditions change. The results are exceptional and efficient!

Blower and Dehumidifier Drying Process

Homeowners sometimes remove standing water themselves, then neglect to have the area professionally dried because the surfaces look dry or feel “dry to the touch.” However, without the proper equipment, it is impossible to determine how much moisture is still within the structure or to draw that moisture out before it cultivates mold or causes other structural damage. Increased moisture in the air after an indoor flood can cause “secondary” damage to decorative wood, books, artwork and other items, so thorough drying and dehumidification are critical.

Mold Mitigation & Remediation

Water damage that’s not corrected immediately will lead to mold growth. People usually experience ill health effects associated with exposure to mold, especially black mold in damp buildings. According to a two-year study by the Institute of Medicine these health effects may include a runny nose, sneezing, coughing, congestion, aggravation of asthma, sore throat, or inflammation of the sinus. In rare cases even death has resulted.

When mold of any kind contaminates a building or creates some other risk of exposure, remediators follow five principles in dealing with the mold:

Principle 1: Health & Safety
Prevent mold and other contaminates from spreading to occupied areas of the building.

Principle 2: Document Conditions
Remediators record conditions in the building such as the extent of the contamination and the amount of moisture saturation. Once remediation is completed, an independent indoor environmental professional will record that mold is no longer in the structure and the building is returned to normal conditions.

Principle 3: Control The Mold At Its Source
Work practices target keeping mold contamination from becoming airborne and then spreading from the source to unaffected clean areas. This reduces the amount of airborne mold that workers are exposed to as well as making the process of removing mold more effective.

Principle 4: Remove The Contamination
Once mold has grown beyond normal levels, the most effective solution is to remove the excess mold contamination. This may be accomplished by physically removing materials damaged by growing mold, by vacuuming excessive mold spores into HEPA filters, and by damp wiping soiled surfaces with detergent cleaning products.

Principle 5: Correct The Moisture Problem
This is the key to dealing with mold. Stop the source of moisture that initially contributed to mold growth. Even the best cleanup efforts will not keep mold from returning if a building continues to have moisture problems.
